Within the US, can an internet service provider disconnect you for disagreeing with their ownership politicall?

Saturday, June 5th, 2010

I’ve posted lightly on certain message boards, and in the process have exposed my political view, I’m a fiscal conservative and social liberal, though I’ve found I don’t identify with libertarians (they seem to go for the way over the top solutions). It seems that someone at my internet service provider has been monitoring these discussions and has stated that I stop discussing my views. They’ve threatened to cut my service off if I don’t. Their Acceptable Use Policy doesn’t seem to cover political views, however, and I’m wondering what they’re legally able to do. Sure, its their network, and they can essentially do what they want with it, but it seems somewhat draconian to make these threats to me. There’s only one other broadband ISP in the area and I’m not sure I’m willing to use their services.

Business Trivia (riddle)?

Saturday, May 15th, 2010

I’m a huge global communications company, the top U.S. provider of local and long-distance voice services, and America’s largest directory publisher, delivering millions of print directories. I’m also the nation’s largest broadband provider, with more than 17.3 million high-speed Internet subscribers, and the nation’s largest Wi-Fi provider, offering customers access at more than 125,000 hot spots.

I serve more than 85 million customers with my 3G network. My "three-screen" integration strategy delivers services to the three screens people rely on most - mobile devices, PCs and TV. My ticker symbol sounds like a popular British drink.

But i don’t know what to do. Can anyone HELP??

I’d appreciate it. Thanks

Suffering with a slow download speed?

Sunday, April 25th, 2010

Hi. I currently use Madasafish for my broadband and use a D-Link DSL-G624T wireless router. I live in a rural location and as such the fastest speed I have is 2MB.

I’ve been with Madasafish for 2 years now and had hardly any problems. Recently however I have had speeds as low as 215KB and at the moment I’m getting 385KB.

I’ve queried this with Madasafish support and feel that they are just trying to fob me off with a checklist of things to do such as linking to the router directly via LAN, and also checking the phoneline into the router itself.

I’m convinced that their is nothing wrong with the router itself, and that the fault lies elsewhere.

I just thought I’d check to see if anyone has some reasonable suggestions on how to sort this.

I’ve read bad reports recently about Madasafish, with it being taken over. It did use to be one of the top 10 providers but those days are long gone.

Of course I have considered swapping providers, but thought I’d give them a chance to remedy this.

Question about my new wireless router?

Sunday, April 11th, 2010

I can’t figure out how to connect it to my computer and still get my internet to work. I really only have it so I can connect to xbox live with my 360, so i can change the cords when i’m done, but how do I properly set it up and establish a connection? The manufacturer is Linksys, and on the top the name says wireless broadband router 2.4 GHz. My internet provider is Comcast. If you need any more information just post and I will add more details.
